A Community and Resource for Those Giving Care to the Ones They Love Most
The Compassionate Carer (TCC) was created by two daughters; first cousins who suddenly became caregivers to their mothers at incredibly young ages. In our research to care for our mothers in the most efficient way, we realized that there were minimal tools to help us connect the dots in the caregiving process. After numerous hours and years of searching, planning, and organizing our lives in a way that would accommodate our mothers experiencing various illnesses, we realized we needed to do more. If there was not a platform to support caregivers, we knew we needed to create one. Realizing that there were many tough conversations and roads ahead, The Compassionate Carer was born.
"The Compassionate Carer" is a tool created to help build a community and be a resource for those giving care to the ones they love in their time of need. It was designed to assist someone who is in the transition to becoming a caregiver. However, whether you are a "carer" or a "caree" we have the tools to help!
Our goal is to create a place for caregivers to share their stories, get inspiration, and become motivated to provide excellent care to those in need.
We offer educational tools, resources, and a community to those looking for assistance with the next steps in their caregiving journey. We have organizational tools; important documents and we can provide you with the education and skills needed to ease the caregiving process.
The Compassionate Carer is here to inform, educate, and ensure that others experiencing this journey have a safe place to get all the answers they will need. Our products and services are designed for caregivers by caregivers.
I became a caregiver for my mom in 2012 about a year or so after graduating college. My mom had her fourth stroke; one that would affect her ways the previous ones had not. It wouldn't be her last stroke or major health battle, but thankfully we made it and her health has become stable over time. I never would I have imagined that I would a caregiver at 22, however, this new role would help me evolve into a more patient, empathetic, determined, and vulnerable person.
My role as a caregiver would combine with my newer roles as an employee, student, therapist, entrepreneur, and more. These roles were and are still met with some difficulty because I want to be present and great at them all. Journaling my ideas became my way to get organized and process my thoughts and feelings.
The Compassionate Carer is comprised of my methods to coping with the physical, mental, and emotional responsibilities of being a caregiver. Our goal is to be our best selves and provide care to our moms in the most compassionate and loving way.
Becoming a caregiver to my mother was a great challenge. I had to reorganize my life and manage so many new responsibilities. I remember being so overwhelemed with, errands, to do's, and appointments.
My mom got a couple of new medications and had a bad allergic reaction, she was upset and scared and quite frankly, so was I. So I began searching, trying to find any tools to make things easier. I could not find what I was looking for. I sat up all night trying to create a way to document all the medications, appointments and treatments.
During this time, I reached out to my cousin Naeema, who has been a caregiver to my aunt over the years. I asked her "would something like this journal help you with your mom" She loved it! She then told me about an idea for a blog discussing these topics, to help others. We immediately went to work. We put our ideas together and we created The Compassionate Carer. I hope this tool will help you as much as it has helped me on this journey! My gift to you is the gift of organization and stability, which is destined to motivate you to greatness along with a safe place to express freely.
